chant pour l’eau [Kinosipi] visually reproduces the digital soundwave of a song by Atikamekw storyteller and singer Karine Wasiana Echakwan, composed to thank the water and her grandfather for time spent on the water with him in his birchbark canoe. Imagery for the installation comes from Kinosipi [Rivière de l’assomption] (Joliette, Québec). The images were taken in early winter after snow had fallen.


chant pour l’eau [Kinosipi] reprend visuellement les ondes sonores d’un chant composé par conteuse et chanteuse Atikamekw, Karine Wasiana Echakwan, pour remercier son grand-père du temps passé avec elle sur l’eau dans son canoë d’écorce de bouleau. Les images utilisées dans cette installation proviennent de Kinosipi [rivière de l’assomption] (Joliette Québec). Elles ont été prises au début de l’hiver après qu’il avait neigé.
